Since we last posted, Jordan has been busy with many activities. He's learned to sit up, hold his own bottle, eat solid foods in his high chair, play with various toys, compose music, perform routine surgery, write novels, and argue cases in court. All right, I'm exaggerating. But he's doing some pretty exciting things for a seven month old. Although he is thankfully not arguing cases in court yet, he has developed some interesting vocals that sound suspiciously like, "Da-da." Not bad...I'm sure "Ma-ma" will be added to his repetoire in the near future.
Jordan continues to be amused by our dog, Oscar. In fact, the mere utterance of the name, "Oscar" will often produce hysterical laughter from Jordan. If you've ever seen Oscar, you'll know why he brings out that response in people (or an equally common response of eye-rolling and deep sighs of exasperation). Oscar and Jordan spend lots of time together playing on the activity mat, when Jordan isn't too busy shredding up paper towels or newspapers - an interest that he and Oscar have in common.
With each day, we see new aspects to Jordan's development, his emerging personality, and his growth as a baby. His biopsies and regular clinic visits continue to show no rejection of his heart - findings that are a huge relief. Seven months have passed since our little guy was born, since he was diagnosed with a massive heart tumor, and since he was miraculously saved. So, for every routine baby milestone that he hits, we celebrate just a little longer than normal as we reflect on how truly far he has come.
