| BIOPSY RESULTS SHOW ZERO REJECTION! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| As many of you know, Jordan had his first heart biopsy this past Wednesday, April 6th. Sadaf and I were very nervous, as you can imagine. This test involves placing a catheter through the inside of his leg and up to his heart to conduct tests and obtain tissue samples. Jordan slept throughout the procedure which took about an hour from the time we left him to the time they brought him back to recovery. He was a little groggy and cranky from the anesthesia at first, but within no time he was back to his smiley little self. Though we were relieved he made it through the procedure with none of the laundry list of possible (but not likely) complications that could arise, we knew the real test would be in the lab results that would come the next day. They explained to us that there are four categories of results that may come back - 0, 1A, 1B, and 2. "0" means zero rejection and is the best possible result. "1A" shows some activity, but not enough to warrant further treatment. "1B" and "2" show progressively more rejection activity and would require an adjustment of his medications and possible stay in the hospital. Well, as indicated above, we got the terrific news that Jordan showed "0" rejection. This was a huge relief for us. This means that they will probably start reducing his meds even more, and hopefully eliminate some. So for now, everything seems to be going very well for our little guy. On another note, Sadaf has been corresponding with the mother of the baby who gave Jordan his new heart. She told us her story - which is incredibly tragic - and told us some other things we did not know, and will share with you soon. We even saw a picture of the baby, who was more beautiful than you could imagine. The mother assured us that although she will never fully recover from the loss of her baby, she is comforted by the the fact that her loss gave Jordan the gift of life, and another tragedy was avoided. As always, we thank you all for your continued support. Please continue to check in on Jordan and keep him, and the baby whose heart now beats inside him, in your thoughts and prayers. - Jeff (4/8/05) |
