| Who knew a Boppy pillow could be such fun? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This week was an eventful one, both for Jordan and us. Clinic went well, and we are going to begin a tapering schedule again to reduce one of his medications. We're hoping this time will be more successful than last - it would be wonderful to be able to reduce Jordan's daily medications even further. Even though we know the medications are life saving, administering them daily to a little guy can be tough. One day, when he's old enough to understand what they are for, hopefully the routine can become less traumatic. On a bright note - Jordan is now tipping the scales at 11 pounds 1 1/2 ounces, and our clinic visits have been reduced to once every two weeks. Earlier in the week, Jeff and I had the pleasure of attending a ceremonial service at North Shore LIJ Hospital honoring organ donors, recipients, and the hard working staff who help make the process a success. This was the first time I had the opportunity to speak publicly about Jordan's story in detail. As I stood there on stage, telling the story, I was reminded of what we went through those very scary weeks in the hospital, not so long ago. The full text of my speech appears here. I've also been communicating regularly with Breanna's mother, Nicole. It would be an understatement to say that she is a remarkable woman. Her story deserves detailed discussion of its own. For those of you able to see it, you can find her story in the Sunday edition of the New York Post on April 17, 2005. Without her gift of life, Jordan would not be here today. We will never forget that. For those of you who would like to honor Breanna's memory, a memorial fund has been established in her name to help offset some expenses that remain from her hospitalization and funeral arrangements. Checks may be made to the following: BREANNA LOOMIS MEMORIAL FUND c/o ALPINE BANK OF ILLINOIS P.O. Box 6086 ROCKFORD, IL. 61125 Or call (815) 398-6500 As always, we thank you all for your continued support. Please continue to check in on Jordan and keep him, and Baby Breanna, in your thoughts and prayers. -Sadaf (4/16/05) |
