Extreme Makeover? |

Tomorrow's a big day for our little guy -Jordan is going under the knife again to remove the stitches in his chest. No more "Frankenbaby" look for him. Although he's going to have a scar, it wil be less noticeable over time. And although some physical sign of this may remain, I know he'll be spared the painful memories of this ordeal. For most of these past few days of recovery, Jordan's been blissfully sleeping. Of course, Jeff and I will never forget it, and when life calms down a bit, I can begin to assemble a scapbook for Jordan. What I hope he is able to take from it is the knowledge that a lot of wonderful people out there wished him the best during his struggle to live. We'll save the cards, the pictures, the drawings, emails, guestbook entries and newspaper clippings. Jordan has certainly become a popular guy.
It's not easy being in a hospital, but strangely, we've started to fall into a routine of sorts. Mornings are full of visitors - doctors and nurses stopping by for tests, residents on rounds, and other hospital staff stopping by just to say hi! We take lots of time to eat, and play. We read stories and listen to music. And of course, there are plenty of naps to recuperate from all the excitement. Unfortunately, neither mommy or daddy has been getting much sleep - but we're both pretty excited to be joining the ranks of other sleep deprived new parents.
It's pretty amazing how one can function on so little sleep. And it's even more amazing that I have the priviledge to think about things as mundane as lack of sleep. Just a few weeks ago, I was thinking about how I would go on if our baby did not make it.
Thanks again for continuing to check in on Jordan - please continue to keep him, as well as the baby whose heart now beats inside him, in your thoughts and prayers. We will continue to keep you updated!
