WE'RE HOME!
As many of you already know, Jordan was officially released from the hospital on Friday, February 11, 2005, after recovering from a successful heart transplant surgery on January 26, 2005.  The hospital arranged a press conference prior to our departure which resulted in some very nice segments on the evening news and in the morning papers.   After the press conference, we packed up our stuff (and Jordan!) in the minivan and trucked on back to Brooklyn.

It was a momentous occasion for us - a few weeks ago we came home to our apartment and were faced with all the clothes, furniture and other baby accessories we had bought for Jordan.  At that time Jordan still lay clinging to life on a
heart-lung bypass machine, and we thought all these things we bought would never be put to use.  As Dr. Quaegebeur (Dr. "Q") put it - all we had was "very little hope."

Well, yesterday we got to watch Jordan take his first nap in the
bassinet we bought him a few months ago.  And we've already changed a good number of diapers on the changing table we got from a friend.  We haven't been able to try all the outfits on him yet, but keep a close eye on the Outfit Gallery in the days to come... Plus, our dog Oscar got to meet Jordan for the first time - and they are getting along famously!

As Sadaf said during the press conference yesterday, taking Jordan home was "in some ways the end of this chapter, but really its the start of our story.  We have a long way to go and there will be bumps along the way..."  This Tuesday we leave Brooklyn and move to the great State of New Jersey so we can be closer to the hospital.  We don't know how long we'll be there, but anyone who knows us will know that Jordan will always be a
Brooklyn Boy at heart!  (We even got a Certificate from Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz to prove it!)

We thank you all for your continued support - we could not have gotten through this ordeal without it.   Please continue to check in on Jordan - we will update this site from time to time - and please keep Jordan, as well as the baby whose heart now beats inside him, in your thoughts and prayers.

- Jeff (2/12/05)
